Kerala Chief Minister Sri Oommen Chandy presented the Kerala State Budget 2016-17 for the financial year 2016-17 in Kerala Assembly on 12th February 2016. This is the last budget of UDF government of its ruling period of 2011 – 16.

Important Financial allocations of the Kerala Budget 2016-17

Rs 4057.4 crore has been allocated for the development of rural development
Rs 2500 crore for PPP Porjects in the next financial year
Rs 2500 crore for Metro and Vizinjam Port Projects
Rs 1013.11 crore for health sector
RS 100 crore for new dam at Mullaperiyar
For the welfare of rubber farmers, Rs 500 crore allocated
Rs 522.97 crore for development of 1605 km state highways and district roads and second phase of KSTP
Rs 311.57 crore for 24 new schemes in tourism sector
Rs 231.45 crore for technical education sector.
Rs 100 crore for thrid phase of Sea port-airport road which will begin this year
