Sabarimala Makaravilakku 2025 will be held on 14th January 2025. Makaravilakku is an important annual festival at the Sabarimala Temple. It marks the lighting of a divine light called Makara jyothi which can be observed from the Sabarimala Temple.

Sabarimala Makaravilakku can be witnessed on January 14th 2025, 3 days to go from now the security at sabarimala temple has been made strict. DGP Sheikh Darvesh Sahib IPS had said that around 5000 policement have been appointed for Makarvilakku security.

Makaravilakku is an annual festival where millions of people gather at the sabarimala temple to witness the Makara jyothi. People who cannot come to the temple can also witness the Makara Jyothi through live streams and Makaravilakku broadcasts. It is observed on the first day of Makara Masam as per traditional Malayalam calendar.

Sabarimala Makaravilakku Significance

Sabarimala Makaravilakku is a seven-day festival commencing from the day of Makara Sankranthi. On the Makaravilakku day, an evening deeparadhana which is one of the most important pooja will be done where Lord Ayyapais is worshipped by wearing the Thiruvabharanam which is gold ornaments of Lord Ayappa. The gold ornaments is brought from Pandalam palace to Sabarimala in three boxes. Pandalam palace is where Lord Ayappa spent his childhood.

Evening Deeparadhana is performed at 6.30 pm on the day of Makaravilakku. A sight of divine light will appear three times at a far distance from Sabarimala in Ponnambalamedu, this valuable sight is called Makarajyothi. To catch this sight millions of devotees around the world gather here. Makaravilakku is a majestic view for the Ayyappa devotees, which will make the body and mind pure.

A virutal queue system has been developed and deployed by the Kerala Police for sabaimala darasan. This is an online booking system for the placement of queue, based on the coupon generated by the online queue registration system. Devotees need to show their identity credentials to join the queue for darsan.
